XS650 in an XS400 frame

So, a noob member here, bit of an XS fan, but have only recently joined the cult. The cult membership fees are less invasive than the HD cult, and the lobby is smaller.

Jokes aside, i have been the collector of many badges and hats 👒 😅 and certainly have the skills required for an XS500/400/360/250 XS650 swap.

While XS650 bikes in project condition are in great demand, and for a decent price, i cannot see one coming my way anytime soon.

The story gets worse, i recently aquired an XS250 with a spare XS250 frame, and got thinking 🤔 what if i cannot find an XS250/360/400/500 engine? What else fits?

According to maths, just about any other parallel twin... within reason.

So without listing them all, one stuck out as a favourite pick. The simple and elegant, yet well proven XS650 engines have everything and leave little for wanting, say maybe except for another 400cc (which is definitely possible...)

Along the way to restoring the XS250 (ahem, and modifying it to become the 360) i came across listings, scammers and more, but found a supplier of XS650 engines and thus it began.

Welcome to the cult (forum)! Although when you speak of XS cults, the XS650 cult will definitely rule all others, with the XS11 folks in there too. But, we try to hold our own.

Keep us posted in how things go (even with the XS250 restore). Putting a 650 in the XS250/360/400 frame might snowball on you, as you might want to upgrade the front end, etc., but anything is possible!

Yes, i am aware of the avalanche of work it presents, but i saves me fabbing a whole frame from scratch, and gives me options not available on some XS650 frames.

I dearly love the XS250 (special) i have as it has so many options to tweak out that extra margin of power. Its about thw journey mpre than an actual goal of x amount of horsepower. If i wanted raw power i would just buy a supersport or big sport tourer, which i can nevwr rule out but would prefer a big cruiser... yamaha XV's are a favourite.
