Hi All,

I've read many of the posts regarding jetting on this site, but want to post this question for some of the experts to comment/reply.

The XS400RK Manual (see pics) indicates that the standard jetting (Starter Jet) is #35. The RJ/RK parts manaul says the jetting (Pilot Jet) is #42.5. Do I have my jets confused? I'm a newb backyard mechanic, so be kind.

Thanks

The manual is confusing. 42.5 is the stock pilot jet size and usually works well on bikes that have stock air filters, airbox, and exhaust. If any of these items have been changed from stock parts, then 45 (or larger) may be required.

Hey 16V,

Yes, I've read most of the threads regarding jetting. Mine is stock airbox and mufflers, so I want it back at stock settings. I'm still confused between the manual and the parts manual is it #35 or #42.5 as standard? I'm currently running #127.5/#117.5 mains + #45 pilot and air/fuel is 2 1/2 turns out. Bike runs okay, but has a slight flat spot which is overcome by slowly turning the throttle. I've ordered a #42.5 pilot, but am still confused by the #35 the manual states. Are the Pilot and Starter jets one and the same?
