If your like a lot of us, you will get very good at taking the carbs off and on the bike. Most need to at least a few times. Seldom get it right the first time.
A complete tear down with throttle shaft removal to remove the seals so you can let the metal parts soak in a carb dip. Will help get them clean.
Some have had good luck with ultra sonic cleaners or Pin-Sol.

you gotta hate that you hear a little blub blub blub and you get all excited like YES she gonna fire up ANY second now and then it just dies in the arse
id agree with drew it sounds like the fuel delivery isnt happening? should be an easy fix
