It's an 81 if that matters

I pulled vm22/210 out of it, but every thing I'm reading says bs30/96

The bs 30 is what came in my rebuild.

For an 1981 XS400H/SH, the stock Mikuni carbs that came with the bike are BS34 fitted with a BS30/96 type pilot jet in size 42.5.

My 81 H has BS30/96 as well, but what kind of carburetor do you have? Here's a page from the Haynes manual that might help. Ignore my highlights.

hi.i had idle problems when engine was hot.changed the coils and ht leads .problems solved.
