I am rebuilding the engine of my newly acquired XS400 and I managed to get the timing chain kinked in the middle of the cylinder which is preventing me from getting the cylinder off the engine. What’s the trick to getting it out? Thanks to any helpers in advance.

I don't know that there is a "trick" to sorting this out. You have two options as I see them:
1. Unkink the chain.
2. Try to push the kink into the crankcase and drop the rest of the chain in there with it. Then sort things out when the cylinder block is off.

Maybe try rocking the crankshaft back and forth while pulling on one side or the other of the chain?
Thank you both I already sorted it out.
