REMOVING THESE...

I have a xs400f which at some stage in its life has had a 650 front end swap.
I am trying to remove these , which i think are preload adjusters , i have removed the small circlip but i can't see how to take them out?

They are probably just seized in there.

Spray some penetrating fluid around them where the circlip was, hold the end up against some wood so they don't go flying and tap around the outside at the top of the tubes with a rubber mallet to break them free.
