Welcome Retro Jimmy. And welcome to the “adventure”. I bought an 1982 Maxim 400 because cosmetically it was in very good condition. After 4 months I have done EVERYTHING to it aside from the engine (it has 22,000 km (13670 miles). It’s running now and running/operating beautifully. I think they are great machines to own if you have basic mechanical aptitude. They were made to be serviced by owners. And because your labor rate is “0”, also a very economical bike to maintain.

So I did what I didnt want to do! Chop the frame for the seat....SMH..... but she looks good so far! Whats yall thoughts or advice?.

*Next is the removal of the huge interment gages. And replace with a Bluetooth Speedometer.

*Wiring the turn signals and finish mounting the seat. I ordered black leather triangle side bags to cover the air & battery box.

*Put on the new shocks and give the frame a quick spary paint job. Ima keep the tank the original patina orange.
