Okay... at the end of last year before i was putting bike away. I would start the bike and when putting in first and releasing clutch, it would die.. finally figured out it was the kickstand. I got underneath (not knowing what I was doing, not a mechanic at all) and I just wriggled some things around and believe just rotated a small coil type spring, and then the bike was fine and I took it around the block a few times before storing it..

It got me thinking though... What would happen if I was going 35 or 40, and it whatever happened before happens again, and it thinks my kickstand comes down? Would I fly off the bike from an insane stop, or what? Trying to make sure there isn't a major problem here if it does it again while riding...

Thanks all

IT will drag on the asphalt, but please put back the kickstand spring, the sensor should look like a button or hook i think

The “small coil type” spring. Do you mean the spring that helps retract the side stand? You definitely don’t want the side stand to fall to the asphalt while the bike is travelling down the road. There is a switch that disables the starter if the side kickstand is in the down position. Perhaps you are thinking of that? If so, you might have switch problem but that more than likely would show up when you try to start the bike, ……especially if the kickstand were down! If that switch failed (I believe it is in the normally open position) so when the kick stand is up, it makes contact, closing the circuit allowing the engine to run. If you’re travelling down the road and the switch failed for whatever reason, yes the engine may quit but that would only slow you down from compression in the non running engine. It would not bring to an “insane stop”.

Thanks !! Yes, the stand doesn't actually fall down at any time, so I don't have to worry about the actual kickstand causing any issues. It's just an issue with the switch acting up... I wanted to make sure it wouldn't throw me off the bike if decided to become "faulty" while traveling down the road.. thanks again !
