Is my carb ruined? :/

Hi dudesters,

so im thinking about getting this old bike running, and got around to doing the carbs after a short span of inactivity (the thing has been dismantled for 7 years give or take).
So to my surprise i found both idle jets were jammed in too far, subsecuently got stuck and the tips of the needles refused to leave their cosy beds in their holes. That i will tackle somehow.
But what bothers me now is that in one of the carbs the needle has jammed in really hard, and then some dope damaged the hole area in the venturi (not this dope, some other dope who owned it before me).
So heres the question to all you experienced XS400 carb tweakers and other assorted mechanical gurus alike: Is this carb shot and i should look for another? or will it be able to run acceptably and kind of match its twin brother, even though it will set at different turns of the idle screw?

Its a 79 2A2 XS400 with Mikunis living (or hopefully coming back to life) near Prague, CZR.

It might be ... you can drill out the broken pilot tip, it's a finicky job (it has been covered on other threads) then it depends on how gouged the venturi is.

I guess if none here say its doomed ill try to get it together and test it once i get the motor to run. Well see if more people chime in.

As you said, it may run just fine, just at different turns in/out from each other. I'd say go for it and see if it works, you have nothing but some time to lose and if it doesn't work you can still find these things on ebay.

Cool, thanks for your msg! Ill hopefully find some time this weekend to employ the needle and plyers method.
