Hello everyone, I have made sure to dig through the forum before posting these questions but have been unable to find the info I am looking for. Any help is appreciated. I have a 1979 xs400 and the core issue is it is not charging the battery. I have been through all the tests in the Clymer manual and everything passes. Only one test I can't perform because I can't find the right wires? Under alternator checks it says to measure resistance between both green wires, If it fails replace field coil. Well I can't find the green wires? My Stator and Field coil have two bundles of wires coming from them. One is three white and a red (not it) the other is Green, black, blue and yellow? Where are these green wires? thank you

The wire colors in the Clymer drawing are wrong for your bike. On your bike the stator coil is the green and black wires. The blue is from the neutral switch and the yellow is from the oil pressure switch. So use the green and black for your test.
