I recently did some work on the wiring harness of my bike and when I put the coil on I plugged the [red/white and orange] plug into the right coil and the [red/white and grey] plug into the left coil as per a wiring diagram I was using as well as a post on here by xschris. Upon turning over the bike I was getting lots of backfiring, indicating that the coils were firing opposite they were supposed to. I swapped the plugs (grey to the right side and orange to the left) and the bike started right up and ran great.
Is there any explanation for this? Did I majorly mess up my timing such that the coils are firing 180 degrees out of how they are supposed to?
