I set my air mixture screws to 2 turns out, now I am experiencing a lingering idle? Other than that I haven't noticed any difference in how the bike ran.
Also available on xs650direct.Mikes XS sells butterfly seals for like $5/pair.
Also available on xs650direct.
Ordered a pair myself but they don't even fill the space between the shaft and carb bodies.
Apparently better stock ones are still available through Yamaha dealers.
I got half a can of Red Kote from a buddy, I guess I will start with that. But again, I want to wait until I am not riding to work everyday...Gas will turn silicone into sludge. Search around, there are a few companies that make gas tank specific sealants, repair putty, patch kits, liners, etc.
So you would not recommend the seals from XS650direct?Also available on xs650direct.

Mine seem to be ok but i did pack them with grease and that could be masking the issue. So you would not recommend the seals from XS650direct?

Excuse me if I missed it, but what battery are you using?
What the!!! They want almost $12.00 to ship four of those seals? They could slip them in an envelope and put a single stamp on it. Even paying for the envelope they could ship for $1.00 and make a profit. For $12.00 I could ship a complete carb.
I think when I got them they shipped them in separate packages. Also when I bought them they where on sale I think I only paid $20 for all four shipped.
