Hey guys, I was just curious as to who has the highest mileage (or in my case kilometers) on their bike. My 1983 Maxim 400 has 64'500 km on it and still runs like champ! I'm hoping to hit 75'000 at the end of this season.

Most likely tight valve clearances. When the engine is cold the valves might be making a good seal, but once the metal warms up it can actually cause the valves to stay open slightly resulting in low compression. Hence way it won't start when warm. Happened to me before, I immediately check the...

Hanging revs usually indicates that the bike is running lean. Definitely get the exhaust fixed up, but in the mean time you may be able to compensate for the lean idle by turning your pilot jet out 1/2 turn or so.

Your plugs look quite good, if you were running lean they would be white and charred. I'd check your float height, its possible that when you are cruising at 100kph its gets starved for fuel because the floats are set to high.

Hard to tell from the video but it almost sounds like it has no compression at all, seems as if the pistons are moving up and down in the cylinders for a while after you have kicked it over.

Check the idle adjustment screw on the right side of the two carbs by your throttle cable. If its to far in it will cause a high idle so back it out until the bikes idles @ 1200 rpm. Another possibility is that your bike is running lean which cause the revs to creep up at idle. Is the bike...
