I have used repop boots on all 4 of mine and they work great and don't leak at all. I wet my finger with motor oil and spread some lightly inside the lip of the boot and they pop on. I admit I have used the board method like xschris does.

The kickstart lever comes complete. I found one on ebay for a Kawasaki that fit perfectly. KZ440 i think.

That just isn't fair! I am just beginning to learn at 62! I did weld on my frame loop on my 77. Flux core was a little rough but it came out passable.

It is not hard. Just keep components tagged. Take loads of pictures. Take your time... Buy/copy shop manual, ask questions...

Spectra, you are a heck of a welder, that bracket and weld is beatiful!

Is there any viable, non rusted, surface for a replacement pipe to go over? If so, if you cut vack to that area,you should be able weld it, probably an exhaust clamp at each might suffice. If not you might be able to fabricate and weld a new one, it can get tricky. Be careful that your fix...
